Steve Geppi, President and CEO of Diamond Comic Distributors, is offering a reward of up to $1 million for a near mint condition copy of the rare 1938 Action Comics #1 comic book that introduced Superman. Originally it sold for ten cents, but today Geppi will pay at least $25,000 for an un-restored, worn, but complete copy and up to a 1 million for a genuine 'near mint' condition copy. Fewer than 100 copies of Action #1 are known to exist. Geppi's $1 million reward is for a copy of Action Comics #1 that grades at least 9.4 on CGC grading scale. Geppi's offer was made in conjunction with the first annual Las Vegas Comic-Con, which was held last weekend in Las Vegas, and which will be followed by a Retailer Summit put on by Diamond Comic Distributors (see 'Pre-Regs Up For Diamond's Las Vegas Trade Show'). Experts were available at the Las Vegas show to provide free appraisals to everyone who brings in their old comic books for evaluation.
