Titan Comics is bringing Britain’s greatest intergalactic hero back in an all-new comic series.

Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future will be written by Peter Milligan (Shade, X-Statix, Enigma) and drawn by Alberto Fouche. Fouche, Christian Ward, and Chris Weston provide covers for the first issue, which will be in stores on October 11.

The series finds the space-faring hero at odds as the Solar System is at peace for the first time, until a massive alien vessel arrives and destroys a moon of Saturn.

Dan Dare debuted in 1950, the creation of Reverend Marcus Morris and illustrator Frank Hampson. The Dan Dare strips ran in the British children’s comic periodical Eagle through 1967, with artists like Frank Bellamy, Don Harley, and Keith Watson illustrating the character after Hampson parted ways with Eagle in 1959. The character appeared again in 1977, in the first issue of 2000 AD, and ran in the re-launched Eagle between 1982 and 1994. Dan Dare’s more recent adventures ran in various magazines, including Revolver (written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Rian Hughes), The Planet, and Spaceship Away. Between 2007 and 2008, Virgin Comics published a 7-issue Dan Dare miniseries from Garth Ennis and Gary Erskine.
