British DJ, producer, and electronic music pioneer Paul Oakenfold has written his first book, The Wonderful World of Perfecto: With Paul Oakenfold and Friends, which will be published on November 21, 2017, by Z2 Comics.  The graphic novel, which Oakenfold describes as "not quite true," comes with an exclusive soundtrack available only to purchasers.

Oakenfold describes himself as a longtime comics fan and describes The Wonderful World of Perfecto as "The first electronic music graphic novel."

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Oakenfold's 1987 trip to the island of Ibiza, where he found a new sound and launched his DJ career.  Since then, he has become a prominent DJ, producer, and performer, playing large and small venues, including the Hollywood Bowl and the Mount Everest base camp.  The graphic novel includes his experiences as resident DJ at the Liverpool nightclub Cream, touring with the band U2, and hanging out with legendary gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, who performed on his 2002 track "Nixon's Spirit."

Oakenfold is working with four artists: Tyler Boss (4 Kids Walk Into a Bank), Chris Hunt (Carver: A Paris Story), Ian McGinty (Welcome to Showside), and Koren Shadmi (Rise of the Dungeon Master, Confessions of a Love Addict, The Abaddon)  (See "New Graphic Biography of 'D&D' Creator Gary Gygax").  Each artist will depict a different era of Oakenfold's life.

The graphic novel is one of several in Z2's catalog that has a musical theme and is accompanied by an original soundtrack (see "'Murder Ballads' Comic Accompanied by Soundtrack").  MSRP will be $24.99.
