French game publisher Ankama, which recently took over its own English-language distribution (see "Ankama to Go It Alone"), plans a push behind its flagship title Krosmaster this fall, as well as launching two other board game titles.
Krosmaster will also be boosted by the new Wild Realms set, which will release later this year. Wild Realms will include new characters and new "Tracking" and "Invasion" mechanics.
Krosmaster will also have a new organized play program for retail stores. The new OP will offer two kinds of events: casual “Come and Play” events for all skill levels, which will be supported by event kits and prize support; and “Tournament Play” events that will feed into the company’s Nationals and World Championship tournaments.
In September or October, Ankama will release its first two new titles:
Dino Party pits herds of dinosaurs against each other in competition for control of the few safe areas on the Jurassic-era Earth as a series of natural disasters ravage the planet. The game was designed by Antoine Rabreau, Damien Marquis, and Henri Pym (Gang Rush: Breakout) for 2 to 6 players ages 6 and up. Playing time is about 15 minutes, and some dexterity skills are needed to play. MSRP is $30.00.
In Stellium, the players are cosmic architects working to create the universe. Players use trickery and creativity to make the astral bodies align in favorable ways to score. Intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, this game by designer Remi Saunier (Twin It!) plays in half an hour. MSRP is $40.00.
Two other titles, Boufbowl and Kingdom Run are also planned for release later this year.
