Action-Figure.com is reporting that Majestic Studios, which has made quite a splash with its recent release of collector-oriented figures from the horror films Jeepers Creepers and Return of the Fly, has acquired the license to produce deluxe 12-inch collectible figures of the four main characters from The Munsters TV series. Next year The Munsters will celebrate the fortieth anniversary of its debut on CBS in 1964 -- an anniversary which will undoubtedly be accompanied by the release of the series on DVD. While the denizens of 1313 Mockingbird Lane only lasted three seasons on CBS, they have become perennial favorites on TV Land. Majestic Studios will issue its four collectible Munster figures in the third quarter of 2004. Retailers should be ready to take advantage of the fortieth anniversary of this cult TV series. In addition to the figures from Majestic Studios there should be DVDs of the series as well as a number of picturesque Munster vehicles from Johnny Lightning.
The four Majestic Studios Munster figures include the Frankenstein-like Herman Munster, his gothically gorgeous wife Lily, her father (the aged vampire, Grandpa Munster), and Herman and Lily's Spock-eared son Eddie. It is easy to understand why Majestic Studios won't be making a figure of Lily's niece, Marilyn Munster, whose silky blonde hair, rosy cheeks, and legs-that-won't-quit mark her as a true outsider (though the family is very protective of her in spite of her grotesque appearance).
