Alterna Comics’ Metaphase has been featured on NBC News with Lester Holt. The two-minute segment should boost the profile of the book, which has already garnered buzz for its main character Ollie, a boy who has Down syndrome.

Metaphase is written by Chip Reece, whose own son Ollie has Down syndrome. Kelly Williams drew the OGN, in which the main character Ollie desires powers just like his superhero dad. But Ollie’s father is intent on keeping his son out of harm’s way.

Metaphase was funded via Kickstarter, where 244 backers contributed $9,635 on a $6,000 goal. Alterna released the book in 2015, and the first print run of 1,500 copies sold out. A second printing is in the works.
