Eggertspiele, which is owned by Plan B Games, will release Coimbra, a board game set in 15th Century Portugal during the Age of Discovery. The game will release on August 2 at Gen Con.

Designed by Flaminia Brasini and Virginio Gigli (members of the design teams for Lorenzo il Magnifico, and Leonardo da Vinci), Coimbra a social influence game where players take the roles of leaders of leading houses in Coimbra. Players seek to earn prestige by building relationships with local monasteries and universities, as well as funding expeditions. This is accomplished by gaining the favor of influential citizens, which may include protective detail or financial offerings. The game introduces a new dice mechanic – when dice are drafted each round, they can be used in multiple ways and impact different aspects of decisions.

The box contains, 56 character cards, 16 voyage cards, 24 monasteries tiles, 4 royal favor tiles, 4 influence scoring tiles, 4 honor tokens, 12 property markers, 5 dice tokens, 4 pilgrims, 8 angular markers, 13 dice, 4 player boards, and a game board. The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 60 – 90 minutes. MSRP was not announced.
