Famed director of geek-favorite films, live performer, and occasional comic writer Kevin Smith suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday, according to his posts on social media.  He was between two stand-up shows and felt nauseus and pressure on his chest, according his Facebook post.  At the hospital he discovered that he had 100% blockage of the LAD (left anterior descending) artery, otherwise known as the widow-maker because of its lethality in heart attacks.

“If I hadn’t canceled the second show to go to the hospital, the Doc said I would have died tonight,” Smith wrote.  A stent was placed in the artery, and Smith reported that “for now, I’m still above ground!”
