Teotihuacan: City of Gods is designed by Daniele Tascini (Tzolk’in: The Mayan Calendar, Council of 4) and takes place in the pre-Columbian civilization pre-dating the Aztecs. Players each command a work force which is controlled with dice. Players manage resources and workforces as they develop new technologies, build homes and temples, and become more powerful. The goal is to gather the most fame before the end of the game.
The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 75 – 120 minutes. MSRP is tentatively set at $50.00.
Coming from NSKN’s Strawberry Studio’s imprint is Scare It! a quick colorful game that plays in 15 minutes. Designed by Adrian Dinu, players are trying to scare all the animals off the table that are NOT depicted on their secret objective cards (one color, one animal). Players may scare one animal on the table using another animal orthogonally adjacent to it on the table. The scared animal is removed from the table, leaving a hole, which is either filled with the scar-er animal, or covered by shifting all animals above it down. When a column is emptied, the game ends. Players score points for each of the color or type of animals left on the table that match their objective cards. The game is for 1 – 4 players, or more with team variants. The box includes 32 animal cards, 4 animal color objective cards, 4 animal type objective cards, and rules. The game plays in 15 minutes or less. MSRP is $10.00. Release is planned for May.
NSKN will also be releasing Dice Settlers in October. The game recently raised more than $140,000 on Kickstarter (see “Dice Pool Building Meets '4X' in 'Dice Settlers'”).
NSKN was also teasing a new deluxe version of the strategic worker-placement board game Snowdonia, designed by Tony Boydell (Guilds of London). Players are in charge of work gangs providing labor for the construction of the Welsh Snowdon Mountain Railway. Unlike other train construction games, players have to excavate the mountain, then lay track, construct stations and viaducts, and deal with the weather all the way up. The game will include old and new expansions. The game will be funded via Kickstarter this summer, with plans for an early 2019 release.
