The fear of the dark is the theme for an upcoming release from Pandasaurus that was on display at the GAMA Trade Show.  Nyctophobia will release this June.

Inspired by a blind uncle who enjoys games, designer Catherine Stippell created a game in which the players must play blindfolded.  Using the classic “slasher” horror film as a theme, Nyctophobia challenges players to escape while they are hunted by the only player who is allowed to see what’s going on.

The “Hunted” players must feel their way around the three-dimensional game board, sharing clues with each other about what they find and where they think they are in relation to the game board terrain and their objective.  Meanwhile, the “Hunter” player, who has the benefit of playing with their eyes open, tries to thwart their efforts, using a deck of cards to control their movement.

Nyctophobia was designed for 3 to 5 players, ages 9 and up, and takes a little more than half an hour to play.  MSRP is $40.00.

Pandasaurus recently released Scott Almes’ 3-D game Coaster Park (see “Build a 3-D Working Roller Coaster in ‘Coaster Park’”).
