Devir Games has announced three games, two Eurogames, and one children’s game planned for release in Q4.
Papua is research and exploration game set in Papua New Guinea during the 19th Century. Players are leaders of scientific expeditions, trying to find the most relevant discoveries that will make the finders world famous. Players must manage their scientists and direct them through the game. Some must maintain good relationships with the natives, others must collect new discoveries by participating in blind auctions in the Discovery Zone, and others must hunt and fish to keep everyone fed. In the end, the player that gathers the most prestige wins the game. MSRP is $40.00.
Silk is a gateway game that introduces players to area control and worker placement mechanics. Players are shepherds living on the slopes of the Akaishi Mountains, trying to raise Imomushi silkworks. Players must tend their folks, and find them feeding groups before other shepherds move in. Players roll dice to see which actions they will be able to perform on their turn: Breeding more silkworms, moving the shepherd or their dog, building fences or farms, moving the ookami monster on the board, or getting silkworms to feeding grounds. Each time the silkworms feed, they produce silk points. Points can be spent to modify a dice roll, or held for the end of the game, because the player with the most silk points at the end of the game wins. MSRP is $30.00.
The Color Monster is a children’s game where players help a confused monster understand his feelings and communicate them with colors. Once the color /feelings have been sorted, players must put them in an object for storage. After they find an object that can hold the feelings, players talk about a situation where they felt that feeling before. The game is based on children’s book, The Color Monster, written by Anna Llenas. MSRP is $35.00.
Spanish game distributor and publisher Devir began releasing products in the U.S. last year (see “Devir Stacks the Deck in 'Castellers!',” Devir Licenses Games Workshop Characters for Wacky Racing Game,” and “Spanish Publisher Devir Invades U.S.”).
