Plaid Hat Games is adding new titles to two of its game lines, Gen7, a “Crossroads” game, and Comanauts, an “Adventure Book” game. Both titles will release in either Q4 this year or Q1 next year.
Gen7 will join the award-winning Dead of Winter in Plaid Hat’s “Crossroads” line. Set on a multi-generation colony ship travelling from Earth to Epsilon Eridani, this game challenges players to uncover a mystery that threatens the entire mission. The game forces players to make not only tactical but also moral choices triggered by Crossroads cards as they explore the game’s branching storyline and struggle to keep the mission on track. The game is designed to play over a campaign of seven “episodes” with some Legacy-style features, and victory is not determined until the end of the campaign.
Created by Steve Nix (Scalawag), Gen7 will include 12 board tiles, 4 player sheets, 436 cards, 35 dice, 173 tokens and markers, and a 130-page “Plot Book” with story elements for players to explore. It also includes 9 envelopes with “secret” game materials that are revealed during campaign play. Intended for 3 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, each game takes 60 to 90 minutes to play. MSRP is $99.95.
Designed by Jerry Hawthorne (Mice & Mystics, Stuffed Fables), Comanauts will be the second game in the “Adventure Book” line (see "Plaid Hat Launches AdventureBook Game Line"), which use oversized spiral-bound books that function both as game board and story guide. A fully-cooperative game for two to four players, Comanauts is about special operatives inserted into the mind of an unconscious scientist to explore his often-bizarre dreamscapes in the hope of waking him in time to stop a global catastrophe.
Comanauts comes with a 100-page Adventure Book, 1 sideboard, 38 dice, 1 dice bag, 248 cards, 4 player sheets, 71 character standees with 20 bases, 80 tokens, and a sheet of stickers. It is designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, and each game takes 1 to 2 hours to play. MSRP is $69.95.
