Steamforged Games will release Horizon Zero Dawn The Board Game, a semi cooperative tactical action game set in the world of the PlayStation 4 video game.

Horizon Zero Dawn is an action game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2017. It is set in a world overrun by self-replicating robots which consumed Earth’s biosphere. Humans now live in primitive tribal societies who send hunters out to destroy robotic enemies and harvest resources from them.

Horizon Zero Dawn The Board Game has players choose roles as hunters from different tribes, choosing classes, and embarking on adventures. Players can upgrade their hunters by developing several different skills and purchasing ammunition and equipment from merchants in their travels.  Each hunter tries to earn the most glory points during enemy encounters, but they must also work with their allies, because if one player dies, its game over.

The game is currently being funded via Kickstarter, and reached its $200,114 goal in a few hours. The campaign will continue through September 28. There is no retailer backing level. Current backer fulfillment is planed for March 2020 with a trade release to follow.
