Samurai Executioner, the prequel to Lone Wolf and Cub by the same award-winning creators, Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima, will be published by Dark Horse Comics beginning this summer.
This 10-volume series, in a 4' x 6' format, will follow in the wake of Dark Horse's release of the 24-volume Lone Wolf and Cub series, which won Dark Horse the Harvey Award for Best Presentation of Foreign Material in 2002 (see 'Harvey Awards Announced in NYC').
Samurai Executioner tells the story of the shogun's weapons tester, Kubikiri Asa, known to Lone Wolf and Cub readers as Decapitator Asaemon, up until his decisive duel with his equal, Lone Wolf. Retailers can expect the same type of dramatic action and outstanding artwork as in Lone Wolf and Cub.
A new Lone Wolf live action movie is planned, and Animeigo has DVDs of the existing live action features (see 'Pi Helmer Gets Lone Wolf').
