London-based publisher Avery Hill plans to release four graphic novels from upcoming talent in 2019.

Sennen by Shanti Rai is a coming of age story about a young girl who tends her family’s fields in an idyllic village. Idyllic except for the masked figures that come regularly to demand tribute for their Golds.  It’s usually food, but now they have demanded something personal from Sennen. So she must visit the Gods to save her family. The 100-page full color book releases on June 13.

Desolation Wilderness is part of Claire Scully’s ongoing project intermingling humanity’s relationship with the environment and the effect people have on the world and space around us. The landscape is a starting point to a larger journey that asks what lays just beyond the horizon. The first book, 2016’s Internal Wilderness, examined memory and imagination through visual ideas. The 32-page, full color book releases on June 13.

Marble Cake  by Scott Jason Smith takes a bite out of the layers concealed beneath the icing of society, to examine the lives of anonymous strangers populating the supermarket and the streets of daily life. Do they have interesting personalities and unexpected insecurities we never see? Are they mixing life into the perfect confection, or are they stumbling around the kitchen with no recipe and making a mess? The 108-page, full color release will debut on June 13.

Internet Crusader by George Wylesol (Ghosts, Etc.) is part graphic novel, part art book, and a 100% true deep dive into early internet culture. The narrator is just looking to talk to a hot chick online, but it turns out his would-be hookup is actually a robot working for an evil cult, that is sending computer viruses that allow Satan to come through the computer to hypnotize everyone. Except his family computer has parental locks, so no virus; but then God messages saying he has to save humanity. The 100-page full color book will release in September.
