Commando teams face alien-powered Nazi’s in Mythic Games’ Reichbusters:  Projekt Vril, a cooperative board game planned for a late 2019 release.

Reichbusters:  Projekt Vril imagines a World War II in which the Nazi powers have acquired alien technology from a race known as the Vril.  This technology has allowed them to construct hideous machines of destruction, included armored walking machines, zombie soldiers, and self-guided bombs.  The Allied powers learn of the Nazi plans just in time to send a small commando team to stop them.

In the game, one to four players take on the roll of Allied commandos sent to halt the Nazi super-weapon program.  Before the mission, they customize their characters with equipment and special abilities to help them reach their objectives.  The heroes must use stealth to sneak into the Nazi base, trying to avoid detection by guards, dogs, and alien technology.  Should the alarm be raised, they must try to complete their mission and fight their way out against hordes of Nazi soldiers.

Reichbusters:  Projekt Vril will include 72 pre-assembled unpainted 32mm-scale plastic miniatures, 4 plastic player boards, a campaign book detailing six linked missions, over 150 cards and tokens, 28 board tiles, and 21 custom dice.  Intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, each scenario takes 90 to 120 minutes to complete.  MSRP has not yet been announced.

Mythic also plans three expansion sets for the game, including the Not of this Earth set that features 34 new alien miniatures, 20 cards, 13 board tiles, and a four-mission campaign that drags the heroes through a portal to the Vrils’ homeworld, the Projekt X set that adds an oversized 137mm tall Nazi war machine, 5 cards, and a new mission, and the 3D Doors set that offers 29 plastic doors with movable parts.

Mythic Games is funding the production of Reichbusters with a Kickstarter campaign that has surged past the half-million mark, attracting $584,117 in pledged support from 4,031 backers as of this writing, with three days to go (an average of $144.91 per backer).  Backer fulfillment is scheduled for next November, with a trade release to follow.

Last month, Mythic raised over a million dollars for its fantasy-history miniatures game Time of Legends:  Joan of Arc (see “Relive the Fantastical Battles of the Hundred Years’ War”).
