Evil Hat Productions is publishing a role playing game based on the Forged in the Dark game engine titled Band of Blades, releasing in Q3.

In Band of Blades, the players are members of the Legion, a mercenary army retreating after their defeat by the forces of the Cinder King.  The game follows the efforts of the Legion to reach safety as they are hounded by the undead.  Players can choose from five different types of specialists to play, and the game includes rules for creating replacement Legionnaires as casualties mount.  In addition to their normal adventures, players also assume command roles in the Legion, assigning missions to Legionnaires, managing resources, and overseeing the advancement of the Legion during its campaign.

Band of Blades is built on the Forged in the Dark game system, featured in the Blades in the Dark role playing game Evil Hat began distributing in 2017 (see “Evil Hat Brings Successful Kickstarter RPGs to Trade”).  The stand-alone book has the complete rules for the game, including character creation, Legion operations, and the foes characters might face.  Band of Blades was written by Stras Acimovic and John LeBoeuf-Little, and is intended for groups of 4 to 6 players, ages 13 and up.  MSRP has not yet been announced.
