The eight-volume Marmalade Boy manga series by Yoshizumi Wataru has been a major bookstore hit for Tokyopop, and the Marmalade Boy anime series is one of the most requested series by American fans. Now Tokyopop is releasing the classic bittersweet anime romantic comedy in four 19-episode 'Scrapbooks,' which will eventually include all 76 episodes of the anime series, which ran on TV in Japan during 1994 and 1995. The first volume in the series includes original commissioned artwork pencil boards in each scrapbook, and special digipak packaging in a collector's box. With a suggested retail price of $99.99, the price per episode comes in at just over $5.
Marmalade Boy is the story of teenager Miki Koishikawa, whose life is turned upside down when her parents swap spouses with another couple and the two families move in together, presenting Miki with yet another problem, her growing attraction for her 'stepbrother' Yuu. If the manga series is any kind of indicator, the Marmalade Boy anime should do very well.
