Marvel Comics has announced a new Silver Surfer: Black series from writer Danny Cates and artist Trad Moore that will debut in June.  The new miniseries (Marvel has not yet indicated its exact length) has spun out of the new Guardians of the Galaxy series by Cates, who dispatched the Silver Surfer into the Black Order’s wormhole in issue #1 in January.  Silver Surfer: Black will explain what happened after the metallic one's unfortunate encounter with the wormhole.

Marvel announced the new Silver Surfer series on its Website and provided issue #1 covers by Moore and by Nick Bradshaw, plus a comment from series editor Darren Shan, who noted: “When Donny Cates wrote the first issue of the new Guardians of the Galaxy series, we both agreed that Silver Surfer’s adventure wasn’t going to end there, that there was still more story to be told about what happened to all the cosmic heroes that got sucked into the Black Order’s wormhole. But Donny’s imagination really kicked into gear when artist Tradd Moore signed on! Readers won’t realize it, but Silver Surfer: Black is a culmination of everything Donny has been writing since his Thanos run. And Tradd Moore is delivering some of the craziest visuals seen in a Marvel Comic today!”

Silver Surfer: Black won’t be the only Silver Surfer comic out this summer, Marvel has already announced a deluxe 30th Anniversary edition of Silver Surfer: Parable by Moebius and Stan Lee (see “Silver Surfer Parable Gets 30th Anniversary Edition”).
