According to an article in the Anchorage Press, Sam Raimi is getting closer to making a film out of Steve Niles' high concept horror comic, 30 Days of Night.  Sue Binder, business manager for Ghost House, Raimi's production company for moderately budgeted horror films, told the Anchorage Press filming was at least a year away, since the company has plans to release three other movies first.  Still Niles was pleased that there now was serious talk of actually starting production writing on his Website: 'This is the first time we've heard anything close to a date.'  Niles is also nonplussed about the fact that another writer has been brought in, saying 'I have been in contact with the writer an he's cool, and wants to preserve the story from the comic...probably even more than my script did.'

Joe Drake of Senator International, which is involved in the financing, production and distribution of the 30 Days of Night film is also very positive about the film's prospects, telling the Anchorage Press, 'With Columbia committed to moving this picture forward, we have all the elements in place to produce an original horror classic.'  Will 30 Days of Night be the first Steve Niles horror comic to make it to the big screen?  Even though it's now on track, Niles wrote on his Website: 'I think Wake the Dead will make it to the screen first.'
