Marvel is planning a wide range of brand activations around its 80th anniversary this year, including in-store, in-game, and convention events, special merch, and more.
Retail activations on August 31 include special events at FYE, Disney, and comic stores, and special merch on Amazon. Other retailers participating in anniversary events include Walmart, Target, Party City, Box Lunch, Hot Topic, Uniqlo, and GameStop. Special pop-up shops will be placed throughout China, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
In addition to Marvel Comics #1000 (see "Preview: ‘Marvel Comics’ #1000 Variant Covers"), special 80th anniversary merch is planned from Hasbro, Funko, LootCrate, Diamond Select, Mattel, DecoPac, Mad Engine, Bioworld, C-Life, Citizen, and Disney. DK Publishing is releasing a new edition of the Marvel Encyclopedia, and Ample Hills Creamery is releasing three special flavors tied to Black Panther, Captain America, and Spider-Man.
Convention activations include special activities at D23 and Dragon Con (on August 31).
Limited time in-game activations are planned for Marvel Strike Force, Marvel Future Fight, Marvel Puzzle Quest, and Marvel Contest of Champions.
