Japanime Co. Ltd. has announced the June release of Manga University Presents...Kana de Manga, a book that uses original manga artwork to teach students how to speak, read and write the Japanese hiragana and katakana 'alphabets,' also known as kana.  The book, which will retail for $9.99, was written by longtime Tokyo resident Glenn Kardy, editor of several English-language volumes in Graphic Sha's popular How to Draw Manga series.  Osaka artist Chihiro provided the illustrations for the book.  Ronald A. Morse of the UCLA Center for Japanese Studies has added a forward to the volume, underscoring the book's educational potential.

Diamond Comic Distributors will handle Manga University Presents...Kana de Manga for the comic market though it has not yet appeared in Previews.  Diamond Book Distributors will be distributing the book in the bookstore market.
