The Walt Disney Co. continues its search for a buyer for its chain of over 300 North American retail stores, with, reportedly, at least one serious bidder.
The original estimates last year stated that it might take up to a year to find the right buyer (see 'Still No Buyers For the Disney Stores'); as it turns out, this May is when Disney is still anticipating it will be able to make an announcement.
The company currently plans to hold onto its stores at the Disney theme parks, along with several other prime locations, such as the one on its studio lot in Burbank, California, and the Fifth Avenue store in midtown Manhattan.
The sale of approximately 100 European Disney stores, which unlike their American counterparts have been profitable, seems more likely as there are reportedly multiple bidders.
