SOTA (State of the Art) Toys has released photos of the packaging for its first series of action figures based on David Twohy's Chronicles of Riddick, which stars Vin Diesel in a $200 million science fiction blockbuster that is a sequel of sorts to Twohy's Pitch Black (2000).  SOTA's Chronicles of Riddick toys are aimed squarely at the older collector; the film is not yet rated, but inside sources claim it is very likely to be rated 'R,' like the original Pitch Black.  An 'R' rating should mean that the category-killing discount chains are unlikely to pick up this product line no matter how well the film does at the box office. The first series of six figures is due out in June, with a second series of six figures and some vehicles slated for an August release.

The stylish Chronicles of Riddick Action Figure packaging features the likeness of Vin Diesel prominently -- and why not, since Chronicles is the big Vin Diesel action movie for the summer.  The seven-inch, highly articulated Chronicles of Riddick Action Figures come with numerous accessories and will have a suggested retail price of $12.99 per figure.  The movie opens June 11.
