Privateer Press will release its new science fiction miniatures game Warcaster to trade in August, the company announced.  The game was originally solicited on Kickstarter, where it raised $459,633 from 2,330 backers. Twenty SKUs will be released the first month, including three Starter Sets.

In the game, players will assemble a force of 20-30 models and fight scenario-driven battles using dice and cards to control their units and cast syphers.  Warcasters are not physically present on the battlefield, but coordinate and support their forces from a “rack” (represented by a deck of cards), a command and control center aboard a battle carrier that transports troops and warjacks.

The three starter sets, all of which retail at $69.99, are:

Warcaster – Aeturnus Continuum Command Group Starter Set, which includes Immortal Weaver, Marauder, Vassal Reavers (3 models), Scourge A, 5 white and 5 red Strike Dice, one D6, 4 unit stat cards, 5 warjack weapon cards, 24 Cypher cards, and rulebook.
