Terraforming Mars Big Box adds two new key features to the original game (see "Stronghold Games Takes on The Red Planet"). The first add-on to the original game are 90-plus 3D tiles and markers to replace the cardboard ones. These pieces add dimension to an already popular game, similar to what Mayfair Games had done with Catan premium editions (see "Mayfair Plans Settlers 3-D Special Edition"). Secondly, the Big Box comes with storage solutions that make the game easy to set up and take down.

The retailer pledge level for this game offers a deposit in exchange for wholesale pricing as the release of the game draws nearer. Delivery for this pledge level is expected in March 2021. As of the publication of this article, Terraforming Mars Big Box Kickstarter has raised $1,083,449 of a $50,000 goal with 9652 backers ($112 per backer).
