Rio Grande Games and Renegade Game Studios are each planning exclusive editions of previously published games for single retailers.

Rio Grande has created a special edition of Spiel-des-Jahres winner Pictures (see "Decipher ‘Pictures’ Using Sticks, Stones, and Blocks") exclusively for Barnes & Noble, distributor Publisher Services, Inc. announced.  The game will carry exclusive cover art and a new logo.  This will be the first time Pictures has been in wide distribution to specialty retail, PSI said in the announcement. Pictures has been in short supply in other channels but is expected back in stock this month.

Renegade Game Studios will release a special edition of World’s Fair 1893 for Amazon, the company announced.  The new edition will include a new group of diverse playable historical figures:  Ida B. Wells, Frederick Douglas, Irvine Garland Penn, Fannie Barrier Williams, Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Law Olmstead, and Henry Ives Cobb.  These figures were instrumental in giving African Americans and other disenfranchised groups the chance to highlight their achievements, but were not given the opportunity to do so at the World’s Fair held in 1893.  The new edition was created with historical consultant Jade R. Rogers, founder of The House of Afros, Capes & Curls.

The original edition of World’s Fair 1893 was released in 2016 by Renegade and Foxtrot Games (see "Renegade heads for ‘World’s Fair 1893"); it does not appear to be currently available.
