IDW Publishing, which has scored major hits with its comic book adaptations of popular TV series including its Harvey Award-nominated CSI comic, has announced the July release of a 48-page one shot comic based on the Fox Network's popular 24 series. In IDW's adaptation of the chrono-centric TV show, two pages of printed story will equal one hour of elapsed time. Writers J.C. Vaughn and Mark Haynes (Battlestar Galactica) came up with the concept that translates the TV series' 'real time' elements into suspense on the printed page. Artist Renato Guedes, who demonstrated his skill at creating actor likenesses in IDW's CSI comic, will provide the pencils for the squarebound 24: One Shot, which goes on sale in July with a cover price of $6.99. The series will previewed in a Free Comic Book Day release (on July 3), and should receive some national publicity as well.
