Heritage Auctions dropped the hammer at $21,600 on Splendid Genesis, an ultra rare Magic: The Gathering promo card, at their Trading Cards Special Online Auction on March 25.

One of the most rare and touching Magic cards ever printed hit the auction block on March 25. Splendid Genesis was a promo card created by Richard Garfield to celebrate the birth of his first child.  It featured artwork by Monique Thirifay, and only 110 of these cards were ever produced.  These cards were given away to Garfield's family, close friends, and WotC employees.

Magic: The Gathering Richard Garfield Promos Splendid Genesis/110 #RG97 (Wizards of the Coast, 1997) BGS NM-MT+ 8.5 is the only BGS-graded copy of this card.  The card was a part of the TCG Central Collection.
