After announcing the results of a fan poll to select a member of the team for its new flagship X-Men title yesterday, Marvel announced the final team line-up today.  X-Men #1, shipping in July and flowing out of Hellfire Gala in June (see "Four Marvel #1s in July"), will feature story by Gerry Duggan, art by Pepe Larraz, and colors by Marte Gracia.  The series will tell the adventures of the first X-Men team since the formation of the mutant nation Krakoa in Jonathan Hickman’s House of X and Powers of X.

The team for the first year will include Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Rogue, Wolverine, Synch, Sunfire and Polaris.  Polaris, created by Arnold Drake and Jim Steranko in 1968’s X-Men #49, was the character selected by fan vote.  The daughter of Magneto who inherited her father’s magnetic abilities, Polaris is currently appearing in X-Factor.

The look of the new team is revealed in the cover to the first issue by Pepe Larraz, and in a series of variant covers by Marvel’s young artist team Stormbreakers (see "Marvel Unveils 2020’Stormbreakers’"), each of whom depicted a different character in a series of four connecting covers:

  • Juann Cabal - Professor X
  • Carmen Carnero - Marvel Girl
  • Peach Momoko – Sunfire
  • Iban Coello – Synch
  • R.B. Silva – Cyclops
  • Natacha Bustos – Wolverine
  • Patrick Gleason – Rogue
  • Joshua Cassara – Polaris

X-Men #1 will street on July 7.
