Lupin the 3rd manga first appeared in Weekly Manga Action on August 10, 1967, and was written and illustrated by Monkey Punch (Kazuhiko Kato). Its first animated series debuted on October 24, 1971, and since then, it has ballooned into a media franchise featuring 6 animated TV series, 11 animated features, 2 live-action features, 27 animated TV specials, and more. One of the most celebrated of the Lupin films is 1978's feature film Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro, which was the directorial debut of Hayao Miyazaki.
“The charm, wit, and thrills of that entire series, from Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro to the latest Lupin III: The First, have transcended the test of time to become an evergreen of fun entertainment," said Mike Kennedy, Founder and Publisher of Magnetic Press.
