Variety is reporting continuing progress on the Superman movie, with not-yet-hired director McG (aka Joseph McG Nichol) testing actors for the title role in the not-yet-greenlit movie.  Warners is also reportedly trying to line up producers. These recent moves are in the wake of moves to bring in effects houses  (see 'Some Action on the Superman Movie').  According to the article, the film appears to be moving toward a production start late this year.

The budget has reportedly been slimmed down to a trim $200 million from the $225-$250 million price tag for the previous incarnation.  Director Brett Ratner is long gone, of course (see 'Ratner Leaves a Sinking Ship').
