Dark Horse Comics will publish a new line of deluxe hardcovers collecting the work of Richard Corben, beginning with two volumes in 2023, both to be released as dust-jacketed hardcovers. Corben passed away in 2020 after heart surgery (see "R.I.P. Richard Corben"). The line will include key introductions from well-known contributors and previously unpublished material.
First up is Murky World, which will be completely collected for the first time. It will include Corben’s Dark Horse Presents one-shot, never-before-seen bonus material, and an introduction by Mike Mignola. Release date is April 26, 2023 and in bookstores May 9; MSRP has been set at $39.99.
The release of Den: Neverwhere will celebrate Den’s 50th anniversary. The art will be restored by longtime Corben collaborator Jose Villarrubia, and the work will be re-lettered by Nate Piekos of Blambot. Patton Oswalt will contribute an introduction, and Villarrubia a foreword. The volume will be released in comic stores July 26, 2023 and in the book channel August 8.
Corben’s wife Dona Corben shared her feelings about the project. "I'm so pleased and proud to share Corben art and stories with the world,” she said. "I'm incredibly proud of him as an artist and a person, and touched that his work means so much to so many."
