Sponsored. Games like SolForge Fusion are at their best when there are great communities to support them, and it's easy to find someone to play against, but building organized play for a game as big as SolForge Fusion isn’t easy.
Developing an organized play system means working with people experienced in organized play and event management to make sure it all runs smoothly, keeping an open line of communication with store owners to find out what would help them out regarding organized play, and paying attention to where fans find joy and excitement in your game.
Of course, this is true for any organized play set-up, but SolForge Fusion has a variety of features that will help us to create an even more efficient and exciting experience. We call it our Hybrid Organized Play system.
1. Decks can be scanned instantly.
Every deck in SolForge Fusion is unique and carries a QR code that can be used to scan your decks into our database. This makes running tournaments easy for both players and organizers. Tournament organizers can register tournaments in our app, scan in decks for the players, and they should be ready to start playing. Our website will also list upcoming events so you can find something in your area. This is all designed to make running SolForge Fusion OP as smooth as possible for our stores.
2. Decks can be exported to Tabletop Simulator and online events can be sanctioned.
SolForge Fusion is a physical game first and foremost, but we know all too well that sometimes getting together physically is not an option. We wanted to make sure that whether or not you have a local store or just want to play with friends who live on a different continent, you can still be a part of the SolForge Fusion community. Online tournaments can be sanctioned just like local tournaments, so you can win prizes and earn achievements just like you could in a store or convention. Including online play will allow our stores to reach out to new players who may not yet have discovered their store, and introduce them to their gaming community.
3. We can track a deck’s performance along with player performance.
Because all decks are added to our database and tracked in tournaments, it's not just players who gain status but also decks. If you win a tournament with a specific deck, each half of that deck (called a faction deck) will increase in Renown. Decks of higher Renown can qualify you to play in higher-level regional and national tournaments, regardless of who is piloting them. As decks earn more renown they level out of lower tier events such as local store events. This ensures the gaming scene stays fresh and is not dominated by a single deck.
Since there is no game out there quite like SolForge Fusion, we are exploring what play modes are the most fun and what will serve our community best. There has already been a lot of great discussion in the discord, including some great ideas from backers that we are adopting.
Starting with the U.S. launch of the game we will run Organized Play seasons that span four months at a time. They kick off with a Launch Kit, followed up by a Championship Kit, and finish with a League of Champions event where the best players in each region compete against each other. Of course, the final event of the year will be the SolForge Fusion World Championships.
Running parallel to the Organized Play Seasons will be larger in person events called Ultimate Championships. These will be scattered around the globe to ensure as many players as possible have the opportunity to experience these events.
The Organized Play kits for tournament organizers will include support for a variety of formats, prizes such as alternative art cards, playmats, exclusive decks, and more.
Stores can register to run events on SolForgeFusion.com. Instructions can be found at https://solforgefusion.com/register-your-game-store. Organized Play Kits can be ordered through distribution (Southern Hobby or PHD for the U.S. / Prince for Canada).
In addition to the wealth of prizes there is something to be earned that might be even more exciting. That is the opportunity to steer the SolForge Fusion story, including card art and mechanics. In fact, next week, we’ll talk about how our story development is tied into organized play, allowing us to have players influence the world of SolForge by participating in tournaments. The Story of Solis, the world of SolForge, can be found here with events at Gen Con already changing the fate of the world.
