Comics and real life crossed over recently in Amazing Spider-Man #900, which includes a story in which Peter Parker learns about the new no-fines policy and returns a big stack of books.
To Celebrate 60 Years of Spider-Man, One Year of No Fines

The New York Public Library will begin issuing a special limited-edition Spider-Man themed library card on October 11, marking the 60th anniversary of the iconic Marvel character and the first anniversary of the library’s no-fines policy. The card will feature images of the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, as well as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, and the imagery will be echoed in banners around the library. The library will issue the cards on a first-come, first-served basis at all its branches in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Ironically, the card will not be available in Queens or Brooklyn, the homes of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, as those boroughs have separate library systems.
