The BookScan and ComicHub charts present two different views of manga sales in the book channel and direct market in 2022. First, the similarities. Volume 1 of Chainsaw Man is the top title on both charts, and altogether there were eight volumes of the bestselling series on BookScan and seven on ComicHub, a pretty close match. Both charts are heavy on first volumes and Shonen Jump titles.
The biggest difference between the charts is that the ComicHub chart has more variety, with two Junji Ito manga, a shojo title (Sailor Moon), and a volume of Akira, as well as the Marvel manga Deadpool Samurai and one Shonen Jump title that didn’t make the BookScan chart, Kaiju No. 8.
