Acquire was first released in 1964 through the 3M games division, which was later sold to Avalon Hill in 1976. In Acquire, Players are real estate tycoons who take on the other business magnates at the table, manipulating construction projects and capitalizing on mergers. Players buy, sell, and trade stocks in order to make the most of their investments in a race to gain the most wealth.
The new edition of this game features several changes, including a 9x12 space grid with space designations printed on the board. There are also upgrades to the font on the tiles to improve legibility, and the game can be played in two modes, Classic or Tycoon. The game box comes with a game board, 108 Building tiles, 7 HQ buildings, 11 HQ Banners, 6 stockholder info cards, a Merger player aid, 175 Stock cards, 155 paper money bills, a Stock Market tray, and a rulebook. The game is for two to six players, ages 12 and up, plays in 90 minutes, and retails for $50.00.
Renegade Game Studios also announced a new edition of Diplomacy, the classic game of international intrigue and treachery (see "'Diplomacy'").
