Rik Deskin of Rain City Comics in Woodinville, Washington saw the news that there will be a vote to select the date for next year's Free Comic Book Day (see 'FCBD 2005') and sent us his thoughts:

I suggest we keep it in May.  Depending on filmmakers to deliver the goods on time is precarious.  I should know since I work in the film industry.  This event will continue to grow, but it must be in a stable, consistent date and the first week of May is the best time to have it.  We have several comic-book movies opening up throughout next year.  FCBD is now an event that does not need a movie to prop it up.  We do have Star Wars opening up May 19.  We will be fine in the first week of May.
