Obsidian Flames introduces a new category of Pokemon to the game: type-shifted Tera Pokemon ex. These cards feature familiar characters like Charizard ex and Tyranitar ex with altered Energy types. While these Pokemon attack using their traditional Energy, they have a changed Weakness based on the altered Energy.
The Obsidian Flames card set will feature 15 Pokemon ex and 6 Tera Pokemon ex cards. It will have 12 illustration rare, 6 special illustration rare, 12 ultra rare full-art etched, and 3 hyper rare gold etched cards. It will be available in booster packs with 10 cards and 1 Basic Energy, sold in 36-pack displays with an MSRP of $161.64. The company is also offering the Obsidian Flames Elite Trainer Box featuring the new expansion. This boxed set comes with 11 Obsidian Flames Booster Packs, a full-art foil Charmander promo card, 65 Charmander card sleeves, 45 Energy cards, 6 damage-counter dice, a competition-legal coin-flip die, 2 plastic condition markers, a storage box with 4 dividers, and a guide to playing with the Obsidian Flames expansion as well as a code for Pokemon TCG Live.
