Z-Man Games, Inc. has reached an agreement with the German board game company, Spiele von Doris und Frank, to translate the German game Ursuppe, which took second prize in the 1998 Deutscher Spielepreis contest, into English and sell it in English-speaking countries.  Z-Man will go with a literal translation of the German game's title for the English version, which will be called Primordial Soup, a name that graphically describes conditions at the beginning of life on earth.

Players in the Primordial Soup game, which is set at the dawn of life on earth, control groups of amoebas trying to survive in the Soup by moving, eating, excreting and dividing.  Players can help their charges rise up the evolutionary ladder by purchasing rule-breaking genes.  Ursuppe received a rating average of 7.42 on boardgamegeek.com., indicating that an English language version should arouse the interest of fans of sophisticated European board games.
