Ghost Galaxy has partnered with German publisher Nerdlab to bring Mindbug, a card game created by freshman designers Christian Kudahl and Marvin Hegan, Skaff Elias, and Richard Garfield, to North America. The game’s first set, Mindbug: First Contact, will release this autumn.
In Mindbug, players create hybrid creatures using cards from their hand to do battle on their behalf. But there is a risk that another player might be able to take control by deploying their Mindbugs against them. Each turn, a player can either play a card, giving their opponent a chance to use a Mindbug against their creature, or they can send their creation to attack. Successful attacks cost their opponent one of their three life points. When a player loses their last life point, they lose the game.
Mindbug will include 48 creature cards and 4 Mindbug cards illustrated by Denis Martynets (Sailing Toward Osiris, Divinity Derby). The game is intended for 2 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about 20 minutes.
Mindbug was awarded a slot on the prestigious “recommended” list for the Kennerspiel des Jahres (“Enthusiasts Game of the Year”) award (see “Spiel des Jahres 2023 Nominees Announced”).
Ghost Galaxy is also re-launching Garfield’s KeyForge this year, which it has acquired from Fantasy Flight Games (see “‘KeyForge’ Launch Will Include Prerelease”).
