The Cartoon Network has announced that the anime-influenced, Canadian-produced cartoon series Atomic Betty will debut on Friday, September 17th at (9:30 pm ET, PT).  Starting on September 19th the series will air on Sundays at 8:30 pm (ET, PT) with a repeat showing on Fridays at 9:30 pm (ET, PT).

With an anime-like storyline about an ordinary schoolgirl with a secret life as Galactic Guardian and Defender of the Cosmos, Atomic Betty is a forthright attempt by the Cartoon Network to gain a larger share of young female viewers.  With a full line of Atomic Betty toys from Playmates due in 2005 and an extensive Atomic Betty publishing program at Penguin Books (see 'Atomic Betty Will Have Books, Toys'), this is clearly a property to watch.
