Skybound has announced Universal Monsters: Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!, the second of its licensed comics based on characters from classic Universal horror films.  Written by Dan Watters and Ram V, with art by Matthew Roberts and colors by Dave Stewart, the four-issue miniseries is not an adaptation of the film Creature from the Black Lagoon but a new story set years later.  It focuses on Kate Marsden, a journalist who travels to the Amazon in search of serial killer Darwin Collier and encounters the creature itself. Doctor Edwin Thompson, a character in the original film, makes a return appearance in the comics.  The first issue will be released on April 20, 2024, with open-to-order covers by Roberts and Joshua Middleton, a 1:10 variant by DANI, a 1:25 “Classic Horror” B&W cover by Middleton, a 1:50 variant by Joëlle Jones, and a 1:75 variant by Alex Ross.

Skybound acquired the Universal Monsters license in 2023 (see “Skybound Kicks Off ‘Universal Monsters’ License with Dracula Miniseries”), and their first comic under the license was Universal Monsters: Dracula by James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds.
