Writer and artist Michael Walsh puts a new spin on the story of Dr. Frankenstein and his monster in Universal Monsters: Frankenstein, a four-issue miniseries that is the latest entry in the publisher’s collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences (see “Skybound Kicks Off ‘Universal Monsters’ License with Dracula Miniseries”). Each issue will focus on a different part of the monster’s body and will stand on its own. In the first issue, Dr. Henry Frankenstein’s search for two strong hands leads him to plunder the grave of a decorated police officer, only to have the officer’s young, grief-stricken son intervene. The issue will go on sale on August 28, 2024.
Walsh, who won an Eisner Award for his work on The Vision (with Tom King and Gabriel Hernandez Walta), is the artist for Creepshow: Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station, due to be published in March (see “‘Creepshow: Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station’”) and is the co-creator of the Image horror anthology series The Silver Coin.
