Decipher's new logo for its upcoming WARS TCG reflects a slightly revised positioning from earlier iterations.  The names of the five factions in the game--Earther, Gongen, Maverick, Shi, and Quay -- are now incorporated into the logo as a reflection of the important role that the factions will have in game play.  Neither good nor evil, each faction has qualities that differentiate it from others.  Earlier iterations emphasized the Mumon Rift, the catalyst for the game.  The change reflects a progression in Decipher's approach both to the game and the brand.

 

Early response has been strong, according to Decipher.  Its Gencon WARS tournament, which had a $1000 cash prize, set a Decipher tournament attendance record.  Some retailers are reportedly running in-store events using the old Decipher Star Wars CCG to teach fans the basic mechanics that will be used in WARS.  Mark Tuttle, Public Relations Manager for Decipher told us, 'Anticipation is higher than for anything Decipher has ever released.'
