DC Comics will bring work by creative teams from 13 different countries together in a new anthology, Joker: The World, a 184-page hardcover anthology that’s a followup to 2021’s Batman: The World (see “Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo Kick Off ‘Batman: The World’”). Joker: The World will include work by Geoff Johns, Satoshi Miyagawa, David Rubin, German Peralta, Alvaro Fong Varela, and Jason Fabok, among others, with each team creating a story that evokes the style and sensibility of a different country, including the Joker taking some time off in Spain, looking for inspiration in Cameroon, and spawning copycats in Germany and Turkey.
The book will be released on September 17, 2024, simultaneously in the U.S., Spain, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Czech Republic, Turkey, Japan, Korea, Cameroon, Poland, and Argentina. The U.S. MSRP will be $24.99, and the anthology will be available for preorder by comic shops on April 19; it is already available for preorder in the book channel.
Miyagawa is the creator of the DC manga Joker: One Operation Joker and Superman vs. Meshi (see “ComicsPRO News: DC to Publish Superhero Manga”).
Batman: The World placed sixth on the Superhero graphic novels chart for September 2021 (see “September 2021 NPD BookScan”).
