Tokyopop has announced that Mike Kiley, one of the company's founders who has overseen the development of the Tokyopop Website, has been named Editor-in-Chief.  Kiley's new duties will include broadening Tokyopop's publishing program to create a larger diversity of original and licensed manga, as well as new book-related consumer goods.

In the 1990s, Kiley headed the University of California, Irvine bookstores, which were widely recognized (along with the UCI Website that Kiley pioneered) as premier sources of books and other products related to Japanese animation, pop music and manga.

Retailers who want more information about Tokyopop's offerings can find it quickly on the publisher's exemplary Website, which Kiley has developed.

Kiley's knowledge of the intricacies of this country's various publishing channels (and the various strategies they require) is on display in an interview he did with ICv2 back in 2002 (see 'Interview With Tokyopop V.P. Mike Kiley').
