Comics publisher DSTLRY has inked an exclusive, multi-year, worldwide distribution deal with Diamond Comics Distributors and will no longer be distributing to the direct market via Lunar Distribution. The exclusive begins with products that reach FOC on July 15, including Life #1, by Brian Azzarello, Stephanie Phillips, and Danijel Žeželj.
Any DSTLRY titles that were solicited via Lunar but have not yet reached the FOC will no longer be available through Lunar, and any initial orders placed for these products through Lunar will be canceled.
DSTLRY will move into Diamond’s Deluxe tier of publishers beginning with the September issue of Previews.
DSTLRY, which was founded by ComiXology co-founder David Steinberger and former ComiXology Head of Content Chip Mosher, launched in July 2023 and initially inked a deal with both Diamond and Lunar for direct market distribution (see “Exclusive: DSTLRY Inks Distribution Deal with Lunar”). The publisher also signed an exclusive worldwide distribution deal for the book channel with Diamond Book Distributors in 2023 (see "DSTLRY Announces Distribution Deal with Diamond").
“Diamond has more than 40 years of expertise in ensuring comics and graphic novels are available every Wednesday when comic book stores open. They’re continually evolving to meet the demands of the retailer, remaining an integral foundation to the comic ecosystem,” Mosher and Steinberger said in a joint statement accompanying the announcement. “DSTLRY could have never enjoyed the stability and success of its debut year without Diamond. Solidifying that partnership with an exclusive deal was an easy decision.”
In another statement accompanying the announcement, Tim Lenaghan, Chief Purchasing Officer for Geppi Family Enterprises, said DSTLRY had "an amazing first year," adding, “They’re innovating the comic book medium in both editorial and production, and we can’t wait for retailers and fans see what they have prepared for the rest of the year and beyond.”
