Marvel Comics announced two new characters and a new lineup for the Time Variance Authority during its presentation at the Diamond Lunch at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
The other new character is Spider-Girl, created by writer Dan Slott and designer/artist Michael Cho, who will make her first appearance in Spider-Boy #12, by Slott and artist Paco Medina. This is an all-new Spider-Girl, Marvel Comics VP of Print & Digital Publishing David Gabriel said at the Diamond event, not the Spider-Girl from Tom DeFalco's M2 Universe, nor is she Mayday from the Spider-Verse movies; this is an entirely new character. Spider-Boy #12 is slated for release on October 12, 2024, with a main cover by Medina and variants by Michael Cho, Elizabeth Torque, and Mark Bagley.
Later in the day, at the Marvel Fanfare panel, Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige and Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski announced a new Time Variance Authority series, TVA, that will include elements of the original concept and the Marvel Cinematic Universe version, which appears in the Disney+ series Loki and the film Deadpool & Wolverine. The five-issue series will introduce a new team that will include Miss Minutes from Loki, as well as Ghost-Spider, Captain Cater, and Remy Lebeau. “It’s just as cool for us to see our work in comics as it is to bring the work of comic book creators to the big screen,” Feige said in a statement accompanying the announcement. Writer Katharyn Blair and artist Pepe Perez will be the creative team for the new limited series, which will launch on December 18, 2024, with a cover by Pepe Larraz.
