ADV Films has announced the acquisition of the new anime series Madlax, produced in Japan in 2004 by Bee Train, the studio responsible for Noir and .hack//SIGN.  Directed by Koichi Mashimo (Noir, Sorcerer Hunters, Irresponsible Captain Tylor), Madlax features two female protagonists, the gun-toting eponymous heroine, a superbly skilled mercenary who plies her trade in a war-torn nation, and Margaret, an ordinary student living a peaceful life in another country.  In spite of their differences, the two heroines share a deadly connection and when the unlikely duo travels to the Holy Land, the action is non-stop as they attempt to hold off a shadowy organization determined to gain control of a sacred text.

No date has been set for the American release of the 26-episode Madlax anime series, which just wrapped up its run on Japanese TV.  ADV has announced that Madlax, which features music by Yuki Kajiura (Noir), will be broadcast on the Anime Network.
